Our Story

We’re hard-pressed to imagine anything more magical than a meeting of like-minded enthusiasts mingling in a grand ballroom, sipping sweet tea, sharing techniques and ideas as they build community around their passion.

If that sounds like your version of a good time, then we believe you might be our people! The Southeastern Bath & Body Conference invites hobbyists, formulators, and entrepreneurs to gather in the deep and dirty south for a weekend you won’t soon forget.  Though our name is new, our history and roots in the industry run deep. The Southeastern Bath & Body Conference started as a small but mighty group of soap makers meeting in a living room. The first gathering was attended by a handful of people, known then as the Tennessee Soap and Candle Social, before growing to encompass 100 attendees in 2019.

That meeting continued for more than a dozen years, growing slowly with each passing event. According to Rachel Mullen, who served as the event organizer from 2013-2019: “It hasn’t always been as elaborate as it is now, but it’s been around for as long as I can remember.”

The annual meeting was and is a place for soap makers, candle makers, bath and body formulators, and those who are simply curious hobbyists to meet, mingle, and learn. We share ideas, swap techniques, discover new strategies, build new friendships, and have one hell of a good time celebrating our love for personal care!

After the 2019 event, Rachel partnered with Chloe Tate, who previously served as an intern alongside Rachel, to rebrand and expand the conference. Atlanta (unofficially celebrated as the capital of the south) is our new home base and we’ve given the event a head-to-toe makeover, expanding the fun to encompass two full days. The new venue is Instagram-worthy.  The new menu will have you craving seconds. The speaker lineup is world-class, featuring fresh voices dripping with knowledge and passion. We’re planning kickoff events, craft parties, and networking cocktail hours that bring people together in the best way possible.

We’re delivering serious Southern hospitality, celebrating nouveaux Southern cuisine, and dropping knowledge left and right. We’d love to save a seat for you!
